Family Memories...

Tattered 'round the edges,
And soon to fade with time; Memories that linger still,
Are what we'll leave behind.Like a precious package,
Kept in a secret room, Each memory a treasure,
A family heirloom. On rare and quiet occasions
The package opens wide;revealing our memories,
That nestle there inside.Faces etched in memories
Like photos from the past;each snapshot printed in the heart,
Are memories that last.Worn and ragged photographs,
Soon to fade with time; Yet the lasting love deep in our heart,
Is what we'll leave behind.

This past week we had the pleasure of photographing the Sparks Family. Ben ,Christine and son Mason came in for a family portrait, to give to relatives and friends. Mason was a tad bit nervous when we began the shoot, however it didn't take him long to warm up to our silly antics before we were able to get some great images of him interacting with his mom and dad.

Family portraits are a great way to capture milestones as your children grow. You may think that 20 years from now you'll remember how little your child was or how he use to pretend you were a horsy but without the visual that a portrait can bring to mind, do you really want those precious memories to fade with the passing of time?

History comes to life...

This past week we were able to see history spring to life in our studio. Marty is a Civil War re-en actor who portrays a soldier that rode alongside Nathan Bedford Forest. The session was very intriguing and educational. To see him transform from a modern day man into a Civil War Confederate soldier was like stepping back in time. From his cappie, to his boots and everything between Marty looked every bit the part of a Confederate Soldier. His solemn, stoic expressions really seemed to make the portraits look true to form. If you closed your eyes for just a moment, you could smell gun powder and campfire smoke on his clothes. Which would bring images of a soldier saying good bye to his beloved family before he went off to fight in the war.

Marty has quite a bit of extensive knowledge about the Civil War, and brought with him authentic Civil War props. Some of these props included a saddle from that era, as well as a rifle and a saber from that time period. One of my favorite props that Marty brought with him was an old Bible. Soldiers in the Civil War didn't have a whole lot to occupy their time when they weren't fighting, so what little free time the soldiers had, they would read their Bibles and tell stories by the campfire.

Thank you Marty for allowing Broyles Photography to capture your memories and see history spring to life in our studio!

Bonding Before Birth

Bonding Before Birth

Bonding Before Birth is a focused program by Michael Broyles Photography for families you seek to create and capture a bonding experience with their new baby. Michael’s agenda is to capture memories that depict bonding two times. His first family portrait session occurs in the third trimester of pregnancy, while his second family session takes place when the newborn is seven to ten days old.

My experience is that each pregnancy becomes a watershed experience for families. The months leading up to birth of a child are filled hope and wonderful dreams of what can be, while being challenged with the reality that the family constellation is about to change – requiring new relationships and additional responsibilities.

These two special times in family formation are a wonderful opportunity to capture priceless memories. We think we will always recall the tiny size of our newborn, yet really is that without a portrait our memories fade. Yes, we forget how small they really were, how beautiful they were asleep in our hands and how fragile they were - requiring our constant love.

These are opportunities to capture special family memories become even more treasured with the passing of years. Bonding Before Birth is designed to capture all of the joy, expectation and beauty of maternity and the trill of a new life coming into our world. This is a program that creates more than a picture; it captures memories that become priceless with the passing of time.

Quote: I enjoy helping families capture memories that span the years. Their joy is my legacy.
